I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Upwork (Redwood City, CA) in Jan 2015
Interview
Long, painful, arduous. Not worth going down and spending time with these guys because the company is not profitable and likely won't make it. I'd focus on the larger companies.
I had a very disappointing interview experience for an internal corporate job at Upwork. The process felt unprofessional from the start. The interviewer, who appeared to be a young individual from the Philippines, conducted the interview in a dirty t-shirt, which left a negative impression.
After the interview, I received no follow-up communication despite multiple attempts to get a response. It became apparent that Upwork prioritizes hiring overseas workers who can be paid less and treated poorly, rather than valuing professionalism and fair treatment.
This experience was highly discouraging, and I would advise potential candidates to be cautious when considering opportunities at Upwork.

Question 1
Explain your approach to handling stressful situations
Had a phone screen with the recruiter, then a 1:1 Zoom call with the hiring manager. It went well & was told by the hiring manager that I would be continuing on to the cross-functional panel interview. Two days later the recruiter emailed that they would not be continuing with me. Very unprofessional and disorganized process, likely hinting at lack of communication and disorganization internally.

Question 1
Why Upwork? Describe your experience? What are you looking for in your next role?
I applied online. I interviewed at Upwork (San Francisco, CA)
Interview
After the initial conversation and 2 weeks of no word from Upwork I moved on and accepted another offer. They eventually reached out and scheduled a 4 hour in-person interview and once again, I didn't hear from anyone for another 2 weeks. 2.5 months into the process I received the offer.
