      ESL Teacher Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at VIPKid (Spartanburg, SC) in Jun 2017

      Interview

I sent in an application. They responded that I was just what they were looking for. They asked me for a resume. I sent it in and they responded very positively. I completed my mock one involving the teaching of two lessons at two different levels. It went great and I enjoyed it! I received positive comments and tips to work on. I was told I would be teaching on the beginner level because I was the best suited for that age group. I was asked to move on to mock 2 so I set up an appointment. They responded that this would give me a chance to practice and likely afterwards would be a celebration of ice cream. I believe that was just their way of being positive. I completed my mock 2 and it went very well. I waited the two business days like they said, and heard nothing. I then emailed and asked for the results. I got a response saying that they would get back to me within 24 hours. Several hours later I received an email with the subject line stating that my account was deactivated. I looked on the teacher portal and it said due to the number of applications that surges the needs of their children better that my application was not going to be processed. I still love the VIP platform and very much want to teach ESL online. However, looking back at everyone of the positive emails I cannot for the life of me figure out what went wrong. This was very shocking and I feel like many applicants are left wondering what on earth went wrong? I've learned a lot about teaching ESL online through this process. I would say if you're going to apply for VIP kid, just be prepared and do your best. Hopefully your experience will be better than mine but try not to get your hopes up until you get those words stating that you are hired! this company was in constant contact with me throughout the process and I was totally shot to wake up and see those words stating this company was in constant contact with me throughout the process and I was totally shocked to wake up and see those words stating account deactivated! account deactivated! I am not giving it a thumbs down just because I enjoyed much of this process. But the abrupt ending was no way to treat an applicant!
