Application, then interview, then deliver a report and presentation. I was very disappointed in that the hiring manager didn't turn up to the first interview. There was a team member present who held down the fort well, however we were both waiting, expecting the manager to join, as per the inivite. In the end we continued without her. On the second interview, I was again, very disappointed with the hiring manager, although she did join this time (albeit 5 mins late) she left half way through the presentation and before the Q+A. I understand start-ups have pressing priorities, however in my view, people you interview are also your customers and this behaviour is not acceptable. Especailly given the brief, which was to create a detailed report, a lot of work went into that behind the scenes and the Q+A was an integral part of the interview. The hiring manager left after 28 minutes of a 1 hour interview, that is poor form. It seems the team would benefit from some HR practice on interviews and should show more respect for people they interview. It definitely left a sour note to a company I previously admired, I now woudn't recommend this company in my future projects and collaborations. Would give two out of five because the Climate Strategist, who was more junior, was present throughout both interviews and was very lovely and professional.
