I was contacted by a technical recruiter about an open developer position. The process began with an introductory call with the recruiter, followed by a brief 30 minute video call with the technical lead. While the conversation was generally fine, the technical lead came across as somewhat dry and hard to read. After a walkthrough of my background and qualifications, he mentioned I could complete the take home assessment "if I wanted to", which struck me as an unusual way to phrase an important part of the process. Still, I was more than willing to move forward and demonstrate my capabilities.
The assessment involved building a small SPA (about 6 hours of effort), which was directly aligned with my skill set. I submitted a polished and complete solution that addressed the requirements specified.
What followed was three weeks of silence, after which I was told they would not be moving forward, with no feedback of any kind. Given how aligned my experience was with the role, and the quality of the submission I provided, I found the lack of response both puzzling and disappointing.
