      Senior UX Researcher Interview

      Aug 3, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at X (San Francisco, CA) in Jul 2018

      Interview

Abbreviated time to present left little opportunity to effectively elaborate or answer questions effectively. Interviews felt like a pipeline - good conversations but later it felt routine for them. The post-lunch pressure interview drilled on a question that reflected a misalignment with how I do most of my work, so answering was awkward and probably not well-received. In the end I felt unable to show my capabilities clearly. The whole experience might have been a taste of the overall "things-are-in-flux" culture.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at X in Mar 2022

      Interview

Video call with the HR 45min Video call with the hiring manager 45min video call with a team member Full loop interview with multiple team members. This included a project presentation, 3 - 45min video calls with multiple team member. Scheduling was a little bit of a challenge. It took almost 5 weeks from the initial HR call to the final response. After the final loop, I had multiple job offers and had communicated this clearly to the HR. I waited the 1 week they asked me to wait to hear their final decision. After the 1st week, the HR said the team had not made a decision so I waited longer. When I pressed for a decision, the HR kept dragging their feet saying their calendar was swamped and could not meet me for a quick call to let me know the final decision. It got pretty unprofessional . Everyday, I would get an email saying "today my calendar is swamped, give me a time for tomorrow". I would give then a time slot for the next day and I would get the same calendar swamped email the next day. I would have preferred a 1 line email saying 'No' so that I could have moved on with my other offers.
