Interview
The interview process was fairly bizarre. I received a phone call from the woman who would oversee my area to set up a phone interview. When it came around, no one called. After 5 or 10 minutes, I called her.
There were clearly a set of questions that YFU gave her that she was trying to get through. Most of them were just as I had expected. The woman mentioned she had another phone call to be on right when we finished, which only gave us 50 minutes for an interview that was supposed to take an hour, but could have easily gone on longer. I was surprised that I was given no time for questions at the end. Throughout the interview, the interviewer seemed very impressed with my background and experience, especially as someone who has held almost the same position with a very similar organization.
I reached out via email, as I was trying to delay another job offer since YFU would have been my preferred opportunity. I was told that I would receive a second interview, but the process could sometimes take a while. I responded that I was happy to wait.
After a couple of weeks, I still hadn't heard anything and reached out. No response. A couple more weeks passed, and I still hadn't heard anything and reached out. No response. A few more days passed and I mentioned that I had already had to take the other offer, which was temporary, but I was still interested in potentially starting with YFU after my return in a few weeks. No response. About a month later, I received an email stating that I wasn't selected.
Overall, I am happy to have dodged a bullet if this communication is representative of the standard YFU holds itself to.

Read the website and history. Have a good familiarity. Talk to others who are involved in group. Have a basic understanding of what work YFU does. Be familiar and able to discuss working from home. It'll probably be a phone screen so make sure you have a quiet place to talk without distractions. No kids, dogs, birds, etc.
