I applied online. I interviewed at Yodo1 Games in Apr 2023
Interview
During the video interview portion, I was given a question in Chinese. However, it was never mentioned that I need to be able to speak Chinese at any point in the job description. It's also very poorly coded because it starts off indicating that I need to answer 5 questions and then at some point changes to 4, and then the final video was displayed as 5 out of 4, for my overall question. It's really frustrating to get a question that's in a language you don't understand that you were never told would be a requirement and then have the platform you're answering questions on, just glitches out like that! It makes you wonder if you got declined due to a technical error or some other reason. Either way, not being upfront about the language requirements and then making candidates fill out forms and record videos shows a lack of respect for their time!

Question 1
1) - If I were to open a book based on your life and just read one section, what would the most interesting part be? 2) - [Chinese question with poor CC translations] 3) - Tells us more about your current stack 4) - Tell us more about why you want to work with Yodo1 5) - Tell us what is you "secret sauce", and what makes you special and what will you bring to the team?
Thank you for sharing your experience. I can understand how frustrating this must have been for you and I’ve checked with the team to find out what happened. This job description was updated shortly after it was first promoted as it became clear that Chinese would be necessary for this role to be successful long-term. We acknowledge that this change should have been communicated better to those who had already applied. Thank you again for taking the time to apply with us, and for sharing your feedback to help us improve. It is much appreciated, and I wish you the best in your job search.
