I met with my would-be boss at a cafe for less than an hour. It was informal, and I wasn't actually sure it was an interview until I was grilled on my prior training.
I was offered the job a week later. I found it odd that I did not talk with any other staff (aside from my would-be boss's boss for about 10 minutes). Also, no one called my references. To summarize: I was offered a job with a $126k salary after spending about an hour interviewing.
It turned out to be a bad fit and I was let go within four months of my hire. Thus, this was an ineffective means of gauging an interviewee's fit. I feel like I was hired on impulse (I have an impressive background), with little forethought as to what would be expected of me in this role.
