I interviewed with Zero for over a month and a half, 5 interviews, and 3 calls/meetings to be exact. During the "final" interview (interview 5), the CEO asked about the "plan" for this job in which I explained some ideas and events that we could make their fundraising goal happen. A quick note- prior to this interview, the director, that I had consistently been in communication with, told me this would be a "high-level interview, no real specifics; the CEO just wants to make sure you're a good fit personality-wise" so I prepped as such with solid examples but I did not prepare a full strategic plan, which ultimately is the answer they were looking for when asking me about the "plan to get there". I got a call a few days later telling me I was a good fit, but I didn't answer the question correctly (even though they didn't ask point-blank for a strategic plan and they admitted to me that no one had answered the question correctly), but they were going to "do me a favor" and do ANOTHER interview where I would prepare a presentation. I met, again, with the director for an hour to go over my notes on the presentation before I gave it. The next day, with no explanation, after months of work, they "decided to go another direction". Good luck Zero, I hope you can create a more strategic environment prior to starting the hiring process for a new role.
