      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Zulily (Seattle, WA) in Sep 2017

      Interview

I got an email for an Initial Phone Screen with the recruiter. This was followed up with an in person interview with leadership a few days later. They're big on the STAR Interview Method.

      Question 1

A colleague backs out on a presentation that you two were supposed to work on together. They didn't leave you any information or direction. What do you do?

      Interview

Typical situational questions, the process was relatively quick for me, however, that was a while ago. Now, the process is pretty lengthy and the recruiters don't always follow up. It would be nice if they updated potential employees about the status along the way.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Zulily (Seattle, WA) in Sep 2015

      Interview

Overall, based on various interviews within the company, my experience is positive. As someone who likes a challenge, I enjoy questions that make me need to stop and think. If I am excited about a place I want to work, interviewing has always felt pretty fluid. Interviewing at zulily actually made me say, "Whoo, that's a good question.." Of course, I forget everything when I walk out of an interview so I will have a hard time remembering specific questions, but will do the best I can! I have a pretty funny hire story.....so here goes... I submitted two applications to zulily on my first trip to their job site. One for a job I was not even closely qualified for, but was interesting. The second was for a job that looked like something I could do but wasn't exactly what I wanted to do. I can't remember the name of that job. The job I wanted to apply for was Vendor Specialist. I was immediately(within 24 hours) rejected from the job I was not qualified for, but I liked that a form email was sent to you. No holding your breath there. Its good manners in an internet driven world. It took about a week to hear back about the next job, but the recruiter set up a phone screen with me. During that call she asked basic questions about the work I did, what I was interested in, why I was interested in a move to zulily. I told her I was more interested in the Vendor Specialist job, but that it was no longer listed on the job site. I felt pretty good about the overall tone of the conversation. The next morning, about 8 am, I received the dreaded rejection letter from for the position I had phone screened for. I was bummed, but not deterred. Figured it wasn't the fit for me and I would wait for the right position to open up. I went through all the emotions of rejection during the day. It's a bummer to get turned down for a job you know you can do. Sometimes you're not the right fit....yada, yada...I told myself all that. Around 7:00 pm that same night I received a direct email from the recruiter informing me that she wanted me to come in and interview. I was a little confused at this point. So I wrote back, politely thanked her for writing, and explained I had received a rejection email for the job. She was very apologetic and I was understanding....weird stuff happens when you interview. So, I rolled with it.... Went in for a 3 person interview group. Asked questions about experiences, why the move to zulily, how I solved certain problems, projects I had worked on, areas of opportunity... All three were friendly and inviting. It felt like a challenging conversation and I liked the vibe of the whole place. Was told would hear from them within a week. Mind you, at this point, I am still not sure what job I am interviewing for. Followed with a job offer later that week. As a Vendor Specialist. End of interview process.
