Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented, and client-focused Senior Tax & Accounting Associate to support our growing firm and develop into a future leadership role.
This position is ideal for someone who already has strong tax and accounting experience and is ready to take the next step in their career by growing into a Tax & Accounting Manager role over the next 18-24 months.
You will work closely with firm leadership while serving as a key resource to both clients and team members. Over time, this role will gradually take on increased ownership of client relationships, workflow oversight, and team support responsibilities.
We are looking for someone who enjoys problem-solving, communicating with clients, contributing ideas, and being part of a collaborative team culture where everyone has a voice.
Core Responsibilities
Tax & Client Support
- Prepare and review individual, business, and trust tax returns for accuracy and completeness
- Assist with tax planning and projections
- Research and resolve tax-related questions and issues
- Communicate directly with clients in a timely and professional manner
- Serve as a resource to team members and clients
- Oversee Business Personal Property Tax, Pass-Through Entity Tax, 1099 processing, and related tax/accounting processes
Accounting Support
- Review bookkeeping and accounting work for accuracy and completeness
- Assist with month-end and year-end reviews
- Prepare and/or review financial statements
- Provide general ledger oversight and support
- Serve as a resource to clients and the accounting team
- Communicate directly with clients in a timely and professional manner
Team Collaboration & Leadership Development
- Collaborate closely with firm leadership and team members
- Support workflow management and project coordination
- Provide guidance and support to junior team members as experience grows
- Gradually take on increased leadership responsibilities over time
- Ensure quality control across deliverables
Client Relationship Management
- Build strong client relationships through proactive communication and responsiveness
- Help manage deadlines, deliverables, and expectations
- Provide a high level of client service and professionalism
Qualifications
Preferred
- CPA or CPA-eligible
- 4+ years of tax and accounting experience
- Public accounting experience preferred
- Interest in growing into a future management role
Required
- Strong knowledge of business taxation (LLCs, S-Corps, C-Corps, and partnerships)
- Well-versed in individual taxation
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Ability to manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Solution-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach
- Private home office with the ability to work in a quiet environment
- Ability to work in-office one day per week in Jackson, CA
Technical Skills
Required
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred
- Experience with Karbon, Aider, CCH Axcess, and Juno
- Familiarity with common payroll platforms and service

Work Environment & Schedule
- Part-time position averaging approximately 30 hours per week during tax season, 20 hours per week outside of tax season
- Hybrid work environment
- One in-office day per week in Jackson, CA (typically 9am–2pm; flexible based on team needs)
- Remaining hours worked remotely from a quiet, private home office
- Typical working hours are approximately 9am–2pm PST Monday–Friday
- Semi-flexible scheduling available
- Potential for reduced hours outside of tax season
- Busy season may require increased workload, but the firm does not exceed 40-hour work weeks
- No overtime expectations
We care more about responsiveness, communication, and quality work than rigid schedule adherence.
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation: $45/hour plus annual bonus potential up to $5000 based on on individual contribution & overall firm success, with projected annual earnings typically ranging from $50,000-$60,000.
