Innovate! Inc. is seeking a highly motivated individual to join its geospatial solutions team as a GIS Developer II. This individual will build upon an advancing geospatial developer skillset, taking on individual feature development and collaboratively supporting complex project requirements that blend design, implementation, and testing requirements. Working under the general direction of a Senior GIS Developer or GIS Manager, the incumbent applies established geospatial principles and modern software development practices to deliver reliable, well-documented solutions across multiple project workstreams. This position requires a solid foundation in both GIS analysis and software engineering. The GIS Developer II is expected to work with a high degree of independence on assigned tasks, contribute meaningfully to team code reviews and design sessions.

Location: Candidates can work remotely.

Salary Range: $90,000 – $120,000

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ability to work with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Web Application Builder, and Experience Builder for geospatial application development.
• Develop front-end functionality using ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript with TypeScript and a framework such as React or Angular.
• Ability to manage GIS data within at least one of the following environments: Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL
• Integrate RESTful services, portal content, authentication flows, and enterprise data services.
• Develop Python automations, ArcGIS API for Python workflows, geoprocessing tools, and hosted notebooks.
• Configure and extend ArcGIS Enterprise or ArcGIS Online applications, including Experience Builder where applicable.
• Publish, tune, and troubleshoot map and feature services.
• Translate business requirements into technical designs, implementation tasks, and client-ready deliverables.
• Experience in web design/development and a deep understanding of Web 2.0 concepts, including responsive web development.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with clients and collaborate within teams.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies, work independently, and lead the development of application prototypes and other deliverables.
• Support Agile/Scrum meetings, manage sprint planning, and collaborate with teams and clients to ensure timely project delivery.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in GIS, geography, computer science, or related field.
• Two to five years of GIS development or closely related software experience.
• Strong JavaScript or TypeScript and solid Python proficiency.
• Hands-on experience with ArcGIS Pro plus ArcGIS Enterprise and/or ArcGIS Online.
• Experience with ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript or a closely related web mapping API.
• Experience with React or Angular, HTML/CSS, JSON, REST, and Git.
• Working knowledge of SQL and enterprise relational/spatial databases.
• Strong debugging, QA, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Experience Builder custom widgets or themes.
• ArcGIS API for Python administration or automation beyond simple scripts.
• Experience with both ETL and spatial analysis techniques using Python and/or R to perform complex geospatial data analysis and spatial statistical workflow
• Direct experience integrating non-Esri third-party APIs such as Google Maps API or OpenStreetMap.
• Certifications such as Esri ArcGIS Developer Certification and familiarity with AWS or Azure platforms to align with modern GIS industry standards.
