Wayne State University (WSU) has an annual enrollment of some 33,000 undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate students. It offers some 125 bachelor's degree programs, 140 master's degree programs, and 60 doctoral degree programs, as well as certificate, specialist, and professional programs, through about a dozens colleges and schools. The public university traces its heritage back to 1868 with the founding of the Detroit Medical College, now part of its School of Medicine. Prominent alumni include US congressman John Conyers, radio DJ Casey Kasem, and actor Tom Sizemore.
