Hamilton College is a private liberal arts school that serves some 2,000 students and employs more than 900 employees. The school offers undergraduate programs in a variety of subjects including economics, government, psychology, computer science, education, and English. Hamilton College, which has a 10-to-1 student/faculty ratio, is supported by a more than $1.4 billion endowment. Located in the foothills of the Adirondack mountains, the school is one of the oldest colleges in New York State. Hamilton College was founded in 1793 by Samuel Kirkland, missionary to the Oneida Indians; it was named for Alexander Hamilton, the first secretary of the U.S. Treasury.
