Criteria – Why Work With Us?

Criteria is a leading provider of online pre-employment testing services. Our mission is to make high-quality pre-employment testing solutions accessible to companies of all sizes.  Founded in 2006, we quickly developed into one of the fastest growing companies in the talent management sector, earning a spot on Inc. Magazine’s list of fastest growing companies in both 2015 and 2016.

Our office is located in the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, where we are treated to a panoramic view of Downtown Los Angeles, Culver City, and the Hollywood Hills.  We pride ourselves on cultivating a relaxed atmosphere: we dress casually, bring our dogs to work, and eat a catered lunch together at least twice a week.

We also know that company culture is more than puppies and free food.  We believe our biggest strength is our people and we deeply value their input.  We hold monthly all staff meetings to address any exciting updates, new ideas, or product suggestions from anyone and everyone.  Our work culture is built on trust, respect, and clear communication.  We trust everyone to get their work done without micromanagement, and we encourage honest, respectful feedback at every level. Check out some of our reviews to see what our current employees have to say.

Every job has its perks and working for Criteria is no exception.  Our competitive benefits are in place to keep our employees happy, healthy, and secure.  Some of our key perks and benefits include:

  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • Generous vacation policy
  • Paid sick leave
  • Wellness benefit for you to spend on your own well-being
  • Paid parental leave policy
  • 401K/profit sharing
  • FSA and HSA account
  • Phone/Internet Benefit

We also offer some perks just to make our staff’s life that much easier (and more fun), including:

  • Catered lunch twice a week and a stocked kitchen
  • Charitable gift matching
  • Dog-friendly office (check out @DogsOfCriteria on Instagram)
  • Game room
  • Monthly Lyft credits

Some of our favorite things about working here don’t technically fall under the umbrella of traditional “perks”.  But when asked, our employees often say some of their favorite things about working for Criteria is our charity involvement, our company events and parties, our location in the heart of West Hollywood, or our incredible view!

Criteria Corp encourages employees to give back and to get involved with our community — locally, nationally, and globally.

We support fundraising efforts as a company and also provide each employee with their own charitable fund to allow them to select and donate to charities of their individual choice.

Criteria also boasts a volunteer committee who plans and executes company-wide volunteer events, including:

  • Volunteering at the Midnight Mission
  • Participating in the Reading to Kids youth program
  • Providing families with holiday gifts through LA Children’s Hospital’s Holidays from the Heart program
  • Running a Warrior Dash for St. Jude
  • Annual participation in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s “Light the Night” walk
  • Providing food to people in need with the LA Food Bank
  • Helping keep LA beautiful by cleaning up beaches with Heal the Bay

We're proud of our company culture, and our employees agree! Employee feedback helped to earn us a spot on two lists for best workplaces in 2017. We were featured in:

We also made it onto Inc. 5000’s List of Fastest Growing Companies in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018.

I have been working at Criteria full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I've worked here for about 4 years and have seen a LOT of changes over the years. The things that haven't changed? Every year has seen more growth, more improvement, and more development as an organization. Progress is constant. Another thing that hasn't changed? The company's commitment to its people. I am continually impressed by the compensation, the benefits, and the general care that is given to employees, even as we've grown from a very small company to a nearly 100-person company. These are the types of things that keep me here, even when the growing pains hurt.

    Cons

As I mentioned, there are significant growing pains associated with scaling a small organization quickly. The biggest challenge is interdepartmental communication, which can lead to feeling uninformed and overwhelmed when something wasn't communicated. I know this is something that the company is actively working on. The silver lining to all the cons is that I think we are all fairly aware and transparent about what our weaknesses are, and we're actively seeking to fix them, even if that takes a lot of time. This gives me an optimistic outlook for the organization, because I know the intent to be great is there.

    Advice to Management

Keep pushing to improve, and don't become complacent. Sometimes this might require shaking up some of the way things used to be.
