North Central Health Care measures success by our ability to provide individuals with customized care programs that suit their lifestyle and help them reach their personal goals. We work closely with patients, friends, family, and primary care providers to design a truly personalized care plan. North Central Health Care offers mental health, addiction, skilled nursing, developmental disability, warm water physical therapy and adult protective services for North Central Wisconsin. In Wausau, NCHC operates a 24-7 Crisis Center, Adult Behavioral Health Hospital, Youth Behavioral Health Hospital, Crisis Stabilization facilities for adults and youth, and Lakeside Recovery, a medically-monitored substance use treatment facility. NCHC also operates Outpatient Mental Health, Substance Use, and Psychiatry clinics, as well as Community Treatment programs in our three counties of service, located in Wausau, Merrill, and Antigo. Additionally, NCHC operates an award winning skilled nursing facility, Mount View Care Center in Wausau, which provides short-term rehab, long-term, ventilator-dependent, and dementia care services. In Wausau, NCHC also operates an Aquatic Physical Therapy Center, providing warm water physical therapy to people of all ages who are living with challenges such as chronic pain or fibromyalgia, or who may be recovering from chronic or acute illnesses or injuries such as knee replacements, surgeries, or accidents. Our team is driven to continually assess the needs of our community and adapt services so that we can provide the quality care people need most.

The guiding vision for NWCGC was a system that provided a continuum of mental health treatment programs in communities throughout Wisconsin. In 1994 NWCGC launched its first children's mental health day treatment program as well as Outpatient Clinic. Over the years, the organization has remained unwavering in its commitment to children, dedicated staff, and the delivery of high-quality programs. We now provide crisis services in over 30 counties in the State of Wisconsin. We also provide respite care, mentoring programming, transportation services, and outpatient therapy, in addition to the 14 day treatment program locations we have throughout the State.

Moreover, mothers and babies – most of whom are cared for at the new Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Rockford – now have easy access to UW Health Kids Neonatology experts at American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison, when a more acute level of care is needed.
