Hindsight may be 20-20, but Insightful wants companies to have information before they make decisions. The company develops software tools for statistical analysis, data mining, business intelligence, and text analysis. Insightful's core products are its S-PLUS software suite, which enables technicians and professionals to perform advanced data mining and analysis, and its Insightful Miner application, which provides data analysis and visualization capabilities. Former chairman Samuel Meshberg owns 23% of Insightful. In September 2008 the company was acquired by TIBCO for about $25 million; Insightful will be a wholly owned subsidiary that is part of TIBCO's Spotfire product group.
