Rally Health – Why Work With Us?

Putting Health in the Hands of the Individual

Rally® believes that when employees truly understand their benefits, they can make more informed decisions about their health care, lowering costs for everyone in the process.

How We Work

At Rally®, we live our mission. We practice better health at home and at work. From healthy lunches in our cafeteria, to running 5Ks together, to riding our bikes to the office, we focus on making the same healthier choices we empower our users to make.

Dedicated Team. Happy, Collaborative Workplace.

We are folks who obsess over every pixel and every line of code. (We can also tell you where to find the best bowl of ramen in any given city, or the best hiking trail, or the best jogging path through downtown at rush hour.) This obsessive attention to quality defines our work and our lives.

A Path for Making Change

The people at Rally® matter as much as the work. We believe in a strong work-life balance. We trust our teammates to manage themselves, because we believe that’s when dedicated people will do their best work.

Calling All Innovators

Rally® is a great place to work. We look for people who are top of their class and give them the space to do what they do best. We're focused and driven, but strongly believe in maintaining a healthy work/life balance.

Innovators, Storytellers, and Pirates

We believe a healthier life is possible for everyone, while never forgetting that some people face real challenges and need more help.

Who We Are

We come from a variety of backgrounds, including health care, software engineering, video game design, and social media, but we share a passion for bringing real change to a very broken system.

We are folks who obsess over every pixel and every line of code. (We can also tell you where to find the best bowl of ramen in any given city, or the best hiking trail, or the best jogging path through downtown at rush hour.) This obsessive attention to quality defines our work and our lives.

Our goal is to make Rally® a place for everyone, wherever they are on the spectrum of health.

What We Are

  • Agile
We think on our feet, approach problems from multiple angles, and are ready to respond to surprises with creative solutions.
  • Focused
Our eyes are on the end user. We want our products to actually be useful, and they’ve been designed that way from the ground up.
  • Open-Minded
We listen to feedback and are willing to change our minds. We don’t let our egos keep us from learning when the data tells us something unexpected.
  • Accountable
We work in teams, and we know that we don’t accomplish anything alone. We depend on each other, help each other out, and trust each other.

How Rally Interviews

At Rally we believe in STAMP

Stay hungry!

Teams win

Accountable: Own it. Measure it. Improve it.

Mission focused. Be it. Live it.

Proud. It’s what we are!  People matter, work matters.

Our interview process is focused around these STAMP values and qualities that align with them.  During each of your interviews, we will strive to learn about what drives and motivates you; your collaborative skills; how you adjust to change; how you measure and improve your own performance; what you need to thrive professionally; and what you're proud of!

  1. “Get to Know You” Call
    • The interview process can be grueling for everyone involved. At Rally, we aim to make your time as a candidate enjoyable and productive. After we review your application, you may get a call from us. During this call, we just want to get to know you better and see where you are in your job hunt.
  2. Skill Screen (sometimes…)
    • Every Rallyer represents the top of their class when it comes to the work that they do. We understand how valuable your skills and talent are and want to help you grow them. For some of our roles, we ask our candidates to give us a sample of just how talented they are.
  3. Phone Interview
    • After that first phone call, it’s time to jump on the phone with the manager of the position for which you’re applying. This call is a great opportunity for you to ask your potential future manager any questions you might have. And don’t worry, this is just like another “Get to Know You” call. Our leaders are very passionate about the work they do and like to get to know the people who might one day join their team.
  4. Face-to-Face Interviews
    • Now it’s time for us to meet! Whether we’re meeting over Hangouts or we get to meet you in person, this day will be filled with opportunities for you to get to know people who might soon be your peers. Rallyers take the company’s values to heart. We leave our STAMP on everything we do, and that includes our interviews. We’ll be taking this time to learn more about you and your own values to see how you make your mark on the world.
  5. Offer Time!
    • The most exciting part of the interview process is when we get to say “Yes!” to the most innovative talent. We hope you’re just as excited to join us on this amazing adventure.

I have been working at Rally Health full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Rally Health is the best job I've ever had. The people are warm and welcoming, with a devotion to the company mission. Free lunch, great health benefits and a flexible work from home policy as you might expect in startup culture but with the added bonus of real recognition for talent and hard work. Rally constantly rewards employees and as a result the teams stay focused and ready for the next challenge. I will continue to recommend Rally to friends and family who are looking for their next big thing.

    Cons

It's easy to see the pitfalls of being purchased by a much larger company, and I hope Rally is able to avoid that path. Our work is special for a reason and I hope we don't lose track of the nimble and design driven products that got us to where we are. Communication is sometimes opaque as leadership navigates transitions.

    Advice to Management

Let people in more to the decision making process. It keeps us feeling like a startup and increases the emotional buy in for employees.

    Junior Software Engineer Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Rally Health (Chicago, IL) in March 2015.

    Interview

Rally's interview process was fairly standard. Initial personality/fit phone screen, followed by a technical screen that involved interactive coding and finally an in person interview that lasted about 2-3 hours. The in person focused heavily on Architecture (designing data models). It was very conversational (and I can tell you from my own experience that this goes over well). Don't try to guess what they're asking or out-think them. Don't overthink it.
