Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

- The company is really trying to make an impact on carbon emissions and the way we see transportation.
- There's a lot of great benefits
- The people were good to work with

- Culture of pretending like everything is fine when it's not
- Funding is tight, so there isn't much room to grow your career
- Start up culture = lots of changing roles at a moment's notice

Great! They asked lots of questions specifically about programming and the problem domain; no irrelevant brain teasers. Everyone I interacted with was very friendly; I would definitely interview here again.

There was a good refactoring exercise where they handed you a crufty old (small) program and asked you to make changes to it, I liked that one.
