Trade-Ranger was founded in 2000 by a group of energy companies including BP, Occidental Petroleum, Royal Dutch Shell, and Total. In 2005 European electronic procurement firm Hubwoo.com (operating as cc-hubwoo) acquired Trade-Ranger for about $38 million.
