Royal Boskalis Westminster likes to dig up the dirt. The dredging company provides construction and maintenance services to harbors and waterways the world over. Formed in 1910, the firm commands a 300-vehicle fleet spread across five continents and 50 countries. Boskalis' offers, primarily, dredging and earthmoving, which includes the creation of land in water, coastal defense and riverbank protection, port creation, and waterway and harbor maintenance. It also offers maritime infrastructure services through subsidiary Archirodon, and maritime and terminal services through subsidiary Lamnalco. In April 2010 Boskalis acquired rival port services provider Smit Internationale for about $2 billion.
