Description Etelos is developing into a provider of Web applications tools with a higher profile. The company completed a reverse merger in 2008 with Tripath Technology, a bankrupt chip design firm, and became a publicly held venture in the process. Pursuing the software-as-a-service market, where companies offer applications as a resource on the Internet rather than as packages that need to be installed and maintained at a customer's facilities, Etelos offers what it calls a "platform as a service" for developing Web apps, a Web-based service that developers can access. Its Etelos Marketplace service allows developers to distribute, license, and support Web applications.
