Description MDY Healthcare invests health care companies, especially privately held medical technology firms. Its primary holdings are orthopedics firm Stanmore Implants and Medivance, which makes therapeutic temperature-management products. MDY Healthcare, which did not make any new investments in 2010, decided that year to divest its portfolio of publicly traded health care stocks to focus on Stanmore and Medivance. The company was formerly a manufacturer of blood-glucose monitors but sold its Hypoguard operating business in 2006 to become an investment firm. Its portfolio is valued at more than £7 million ($11 million). Investment firm 3i Group owns nearly 30% of MDY Healthcare's stock.
