RHÖN-KLINIKUM cashes in on the "krankheit" of the German populace. The company is one of Germany's largest private health care corporations, with its ownership of more than 40 hospitals and clinics located across the country. After it buys a hospital, it rebuilds it and installs a four-stage care system that deploys staff and provides care more efficiently, thereby cutting costs. Because the "Krankenkassen", Germany's state health insurance and the company's only source of income, reimburses all hospitals at the same rate, RHÖN-KLINIKUM's 30% to 40% lower operating costs mean greater profit. Eugen Münch founded the company in 1973.
