Switching to VoIP is a little less complicated thanks to products by Cedar Point Communications. Cedar Point Communications provides integrated voice and multimedia switches to operators of large networks, such as cable companies, educational institutions, and technology-centric enterprises. An alternative to distributed software-based switching systems, Cedar Point's SAFARI C3 Media Switching System provides IMS capabilities and supports future migration to IMS architecture for converged networks. Customers include Kabel Deutschland, Comcast, and Charter Communications. In early 2011 Cedar Point was acquired by GENBAND, a maker of networking gear for the telecom and media markets.
