Savient Pharmaceuticals is a savant of weight gain encouragement and joint pain relief. The biopharmaceutical company is focused on two conditions: involuntary weight loss and gout. Its first marketed product, Oxandrin, is a synthetic derivative of testosterone used to treat involuntary weight loss caused by trauma, surgery, or disease (mainly HIV). The company also distributes the generic form of the drug, known as oxandrolone, through a partnership with Watson Pharmaceuticals. Nearly all of the company's sales are made within the US. Savient received FDA approval to market its second commercial product, KRYSTEXXA, as a treatment for chronic gout in 2010.
