Description It's not only blues musicians who play instruments or use equipment made by St. Louis Music. In addition to Alvarez guitars and Ampeg electric basses, the company also produces Knilling violins, violas, and cellos. St. Louis Music was founded by Bernard Kornblum, an Austrian immigrant who established the company in 1922 by selling violin parts. In the 1980s, son Gene Kornblum launched the Crate electric guitar amplifier and professional sound equipment used by bands Megadeth and Limp Bizkit to pump up the volume. St. Louis Music was acquired in 2005 by LOUD Technologies and later divested. It was purchased by US Band & Orchestra Supplies in 2008 and operates as a business division.
