Since its inception in 1985, the company has backed some 100 companies. Typical investments range between $2 million and $7 million per transaction wit the eventual goal of seeing the company through a public offering. For larger transactions, Kinetic Ventures will search out co-investors. Portfolio holdings include semiconductor developer Alereon, communications component maker Thorlabs Quantum Electronics, and enterprise software provider Proficient Systems.
