Description New York Blood Center holds a very literal interpretation of the meaning of life. New York Blood Center is a not-for-profit blood distribution and research organization serving New York City and it environs in New York State and New Jersey. As one of the largest blood centers in the US, it provides blood and blood products to some 200 hospitals in five regions. The center's facilities collect blood from more than 2,000 donors each day. It also operates the nation's oldest and largest public cord blood bank. In addition, its Kimball Research Institute includes more than a dozen research laboratories which study the prevention and treatment of blood-related illnesses. The blood center was founded in 1964.
