The North Jersey Phoenix is a Women's USA Hockey sanctioned team, currently playing in Division 1 of the UWHL (United Women's Hockey League). The team is comprised of girls ages 18-40 years old. We focus our efforts on engaging girls who are aging out of 19U. College level hockey should not be privilege reserved for only the ones who can obtain it in the traditional sense. Everyone deserves to have the opportunity to play. North Jersey Phoenix gives YOU that opportunity.
Let's be honest, ice hockey is one of the most uncommon sports that a woman could play...especially in the state of New Jersey. During the youth hockey years many teams cease to exist due to not having enough support. During this time many young ladies give up on the dream and stop playing hockey. However, for the girls that stick with it the future can only be bright, no? Unfortunately, once youth hockey ends and college starts many girls run out of options. They can either go away to a school that has women's hockey or stay home and play recreationally. For many girls this is a hard choice for many reasons. They want to continue to play the sport that they love but money, family and other responsibilities get in the way. What's a girl to do?!
