A Brief History - In November 1941, the brothers Shoichi and Shigeru Yamanaka began producing optical glass in the town of Hoya, Tokyo. At the time, the production of the optical lens was one of the most advanced technologies in Japan. More than seventy-five years later, HOYA has become a global business group with over 34,000 employees in over 100 subsidiaries.
