Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) believes that in the case of shipping vessels, bigger is better. Established in 1974 with the opening of its Changwon plant, SHI manufactures ultra-large commercial and industrial ships, as well as container, drill, and cruise ships and ferries. The company offers engineering and construction services for everything from offshore oil drilling platforms, industrial plants and office buildings to premium residential facilities and airports. SHI provides digital systems to automate buildings and homes as well as ocean vessels and factories. SHI is also in the wind power generator market and is building a generator plant that will have an estimated annual production of 1,600 units.
