Tomboy Tools uses a direct-sales approach, similar to Tupperware's and Avon's methods, with independent representatives hosting parties where women learn how to use the company's tools. Operated by an all-female staff, Tomboy Tools was founded in 2000 by executives Janet Rickstrew and Mary Tatum. It boasts a 13,000 sq. ft. distribution facility near Denver and publishes the Tomboy Tribune newsletter.
