Members of the teams at Oxford Bus Company, Thames Travel, Carousel Buses, City Sightseeing Oxford and Pulhams gathered to mark the successes of colleagues. The highlight of the evening held at the Museum of Natural History, University of Oxford, was celebrating the combined long service of 175 years by six colleagues. Staff received the coveted awards in an array of categories rewarding exceptional service and performance by teams and individuals across Oxford Bus Group. Colleagues directly nominated the winners, bar the Long Service Awards winners, and these were narrowed down to a shortlist of four in each category in advance of the evening. Luke Marion, Oxford Bus Company Managing Director, said: “It was fantastic to celebrate our colleagues who have delivered really amazing work on a consistent basis. “It is our brilliant people that ensure we deliver a first-class service to our customers daily and they deserve to be celebrated. Bus operators and mental health charity help tackle loneliness with Chatty Bus Numerous passengers enjoyed sharing stories on board a bus service aimed at helping reduce loneliness and isolation in the community. Passengers on Oxford Bus Company’s 5A service enjoyed conversations and making new connections on the journeys between Oxford, Cowley Centre and Littlemore. Oxford Bus Company completes electric roll out The final zero-emission vehicle in Oxford Bus Company’s new electric fleet has gone into service, representing a significant milestone for the city. It means Oxford Bus Company has rolled out 104 electric vehicles onto the road as part of its groundbreaking commitment to sustainability and its efforts to reduce its carbon footprint in Oxford. The vehicles are used on its city fleets, BROOKESbus service and City Sightseeing Oxford open-top tours. Oxford Bus Company phased in its electric vehicles across a nine-month period, after the first of the fleet went into service in November last year. Oxford Bus Company also installed an electricity substation at its Cowley depot to support the rapid charging of the electric buses. EV fleet specialist Zenobe installed 104 chargers into the depot. A full charge takes three to four hours and each vehicle can travel for up to 200 miles on a charge. The Go-Ahead Group, the parent company of Oxford Bus Company has a target to reduce emissions by 75% by 2035 and become a net-zero company by 2045. The 104 electric buses will save more than 4,000 tonnes of carbon emissions per year in Oxford and are currently travelling an average of 70,000 zero-emission miles every week around the county, preventing more than 35,000 litres of diesel from being burned each week. ...Show more
