Description MetaCarta takes a birds eye view of business. The company develops software used to find and analyze geographic information in digital text. Its GeoWeb suite of products is used to extract geographic references in documents -- e-mail, Web pages, newswires, and cables -- and display the data visually in a map. MetaCarta serves corporate and public sector clients from offices in Massachusetts, New York, Texas, and Virginia. Commercial customers come primarily from the publishing (Reuters and the San Antonio Express-News) and energy (BP and Chevron). The US government is also a client. MetaCarta was acquired by Nokia in early 2010, which sold it to Qbase Holdings later that year.
