The contract research organization (CRO) assists US and international pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies with developing viable drug candidates. ShangPharma operates through a handful of subsidiaries, including ChemPartner, ChemExplorer, and PharmaExplorer. Its outsourced services include discovery chemistry, discovery biology and preclinical development, pharmaceutical development, and biologics services. ShangPharma has more than 150 customers; its top two, Eli Lilly and GlaxoSmithKline, together account for more than 25% of revenues. In 2010 the company filed to go public in the US with a $110 million initial public offering (IPO).
