Marine transportation company Avin International maintains a fleet of about 20 crude-oil carriers and product tankers of various sizes. Overall, its vessels have a capacity of more than 1.2 million deadweight tons (DWT). Avin International does much of its business trading in the Mediterranean and Black Sea and between Europe and the US; customers include major petroleum companies. Greece's Vardinoyannis family owns a controlling stake in Avin International, which was founded in 1977. In addition to its headquarters in Greece, the company owns offices in Cairo, London, and New York City.
