Description KBC Ancora may have numerous customers but its business is singular. The group was established in 2001 to invest solely in KBC Group. It controls approximately 25% of that financial company's shares and is its largest shareholder. Almancora was created in 1998 as Cera Ancora, a subsidiary of Cera Holding; three years later Cera Holding spun off most of its stake in KBC's former parent Almanij into a new holding company. KBC Ancora and Cera serve as anchor investors in KBC Group -- together they own more than 30% -- and share interwoven boards of directors. KBC Ancora's own shares are listed on the NYSE Euronext Brussels stock exchange.
