SSI Surgical Services sends endoscopic SWAT teams to hospitals and surgical centers in need of some extra hands. The company provides equipment and trained specialists to assist surgeons with endoscopic and other minimally-invasive procedures in some 20 US states, primarily in the Northeast. Its onsite specialists maintain and clean equipment. The company also supplies disposable supplies used during procedures. Additionally, SSI provides surgical cost-containment services; by outsourcing the expense of training and equipment purchasing and maintenance, medical centers only pay for the service per procedure. Former parent company Teleflex sold SSI to clinical services outsourcer SpecialtyCare in 2010.
