At the 30th edition of the BT-KPMG Survey of India’s Best Banks and NBFCs, our Company has been felicitated with the prestigious ‘Best in Innovation’ and ‘Best in Human Capital Excellence’ awards. These were jury-led awards. At the event, the annual special edition of Business Today magazine was also unveiled, featuring our Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Sudipta Roy, on the cover page. Our Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Sudipta Roy, also participated as a distinguished panellist in the Business Today Banking & Economy Summit. During the panel discussion titled ‘NBFCs for Viksit Bharat,’ Mr. Roy mentioned that NBFCs have shown a credit growth of 18–20%, significantly higher than the 11–12% seen in the banking sector. He explained that for NBFCs to align with the Viksit Bharat 2047 objectives, their credit base would need to expand from the current $0.5 trillion to approximately $12–17 trillion. This projected trajectory represents a nearly 20-fold increase in size compared to current levels. He pointed out that NBFCs are responsible for opening 80% of retail trade lines. Approximately 60–70% of customers new to formal credit are onboarded via NBFCs.
