While working in the mortgage industry in 1980, Ray Desmond noticed a problem: he felt that no one should be denied a loan due to past credit issues, and that potential homeowners should enjoy true buying power in the market. When the banks agreed with him, NOVA Home Loans was born.
Jon Volpe and Lance Dickson, two former professional athletes turner top producers, helped NOVA grow exponentially and apply an assembly-line concept to the lifecycle of a loan. By adding positions like Assistant Processors and Loan Coordinators, NOVA was able to take a loan from start to finish under one roof, improving communication, file flow, and the overall experience of the borrower. Today, we fund over 95% of our loans ourselves.
Though many competitors closed their doors after the 2008 housing crisis, NOVA's strategies kept us strong, and we expanded into new territory. Today, we have offices throughout Arizona and Colorado, with additional offices in California and Nevada. With 900+ employees at over 20 branches, NOVA is one of the most respected mortgage companies in the 15 states in which we are licensed.
