Our Story River Valley Power and Sport originated from the vision, determination and perseverance of its’ founder and owner, John Wooden. John started out small with a lawn business in 1996 and continually evolved the business model to include retail by adding outdoor power equipment and power sports lines. After many successful years in the retail business, John and his wife Carrie, who both enjoyed the boating lifestyle, made the decision to add the marine niche to their retail offerings. With Minnesota being the land of 10,000 lakes-it was a natural fit! The industries top lines and brands were acquired, locations were added and the number of employees grew, until ultimately, the RVPS family of customers became what it is today! River Valley Power and Sport now operates 6 physical locations, 2 marinas and sells some of the marine and power sports industry’s leading brands. RED WING: The original location at 3399 South Service Drive in Red Wing now serves as a pontoon and boat rigging and service center. The lawnscape property maintenance division continues to operate from this facility, offering lawn care and snow removal services. In 2014, RVPS acquired a new building as the business continued to grow. This new building is conveniently located off Highway 61 West and close to the Mississippi River. This 30,000 square foot, climate-controlled facility houses our marine and power sports lines which include, AlumaCraft, Bennington, South Bay, Yamaha Jet Boat, Yamaha PWC, Sea Doo, Can Am, Honda, Ski Doo, Suzuki, Spyder and Yamaha. This facility also offers a full parts department with every accessory to customize your marine and/or power sports product as well as a service department with certified technicians to maintain all your products and brands. In July of 2018 RVPS acquired a 62-slip marina and showroom/marine repair facility, formerly known as Bills Bay Marina. The showroom and service facility provides easy water access and the ability to showcase our larger boats. This facility, referred to as the South Showroom, houses our fiberglass boat lines including Monterey, Blackfin, Centurion, Supreme, Yamaha Jet and luxury pontoons including Bennington and South Bay- while also offering brokerage boats, financing and service. River Valley Marina, located at Colvill Park in Red Wing on the Mississippi River, is complete with a gas dock, ships store, bait-tackle, laundry, showers and is Tow Boat US certified. This Spring, River Valley Marina will offer rental fishing boats and pontoons. ROCHESTER: Our Rochester location, which opened in 2001, is conveniently located off Highway 52 North and near Lake Zumbro. This 22,500 square foot, climate-controlled facility houses our power sports lines which include, Yamaha PWC, Sea Doo, Polaris, Suzuki, Can Am, Spyder, Yamaha and Ski Doo. In September of 2018, RVPS broke ground in Rochester adjacent to the existing facility, where a new 20,000 square foot Marine Center will be open in April 2019! The state of the art marine center features a massive showroom large enough for 45 boats, large service capacities and boasts a service drive thru made for Minnesota weather. This facility conveniently sits on 4.9 acres of property across the street from our power sports store. MINNETONKA: In January of 2013, River Valley expanded to Lake Minnetonka opening a marine specific facility at 1444 Shoreline Drive, near downtown Wayzata. This 98 slip marina is unique in that it offers an indoor as well as an outdoor floating showroom showcasing the beautiful boats and yachts we offer for sale. This lake home themed showroom houses our Yamaha Jet Boats and PWC, Monterey Boats, Centurion tow boats, Bennington and South Bay pontoons. We proudly offer what we refer to as, concierge service, which means a certified technician in our mobile service van will provide superior service right at your dock!
