Thanks to CareGroup, there's well-bein' in Beantown. Formed through the 1997 union of several Boston-area health care organizations, CareGroup serves Massachusetts residents through its flagship facility, the 630-bed Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), and three other hospital campuses. With roughly 1,000 beds total, the system provides a comprehensive range of general acute care, as well as specialty care in a number of areas including orthopedics, obstetrics, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. In addition to its hospitals, CareGroup operates a network of outpatient clinics and physician practices in the Boston area. It is also heavily involved in biomedical research and medical education.
