Description The Walking Company Holdings wants you to walk a mile -- comfortably -- in its shoes. The firm operates more than 200 mostly mall-based retail outlets under The Walking Company (TWC) banner in about 35 states. It also sells footwear online. The retail chain sells men's and women's comfort footwear and related accessories under the popular Birkenstock, ECCO, Dansko, Merrell, and UGG brands, among many others. The company has closed the last of its Big Dog stores, which peddled men's dog-themed T-shirts, sweatshirts, boxer shorts, and more. After a year spent cutting costs to counter slumping sales, The Walking Company filed for Chapter 11 in late 2009 and exited bankruptcy in April 2010.
