      Description Through its Pan American Underwriters operating subsidiaries, PAULA Financial sells commercial insurance products to the agribusiness industry in the western US, mostly in California. Its commercial lines include employee benefits and property/casualty insurance (primarily workers' compensation), and, to a lesser extent, crop, life, and disability insurance. The company has been expanding into other insurance lines, including some personal lines and wholesale life insurance. It shut down its third-party administration (TPA) services business in 2005. In 2008 the company announced plans to sell Pan American Underwriters to Ascension Insurance.
