Description It's a little more expensive than 99 cents, but you don't need to be a real fat cat to enjoy one of these burgers. Fatburger operates and franchises more than 90 hamburger stands known for their 1/3 pound signature sandwich. Located primarily in Southern California, the 1950s-style restaurants also offer a 1/2 pound Kingburger and 1/8 pound Baby Fat burger, as well as a variety of side orders and other sandwiches. Franchisees operate more than 60 of the chain's locations. Lovie Yancey opened the first Fatburger in 1952 when "fat" was used to describe the size, not the content, of the burger. Fog Cutter Capital Group owns more than 80% of the company.
