Description Barrow Brain and Spine is a physician-owned specialty practice focused in the areas of neurosurgery and advanced spine care. The practice encompasses 27 neurosurgeons, three physiatrists and performs more than 8,000 surgeries each year. This globally-recognized group directs the Neurosurgery Residency Program at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona and serves more than 21,000 patients per year.

In 1962, Barrow Neurological Institute opened in Phoenix, Arizona in a five-story building with 52 beds. It was one of only three neuroscience institutes in the country — and it laid the foundation for decades of innovation that has fueled the work of Barrow Brain and Spine and improved the lives of hundreds of thousands of patients around the world.
