The firm also offers trading, analysis, and research services; it specializes in technology, health care/life sciences, and consumer/retail. William Hambrecht founded the firm in 1998 after retiring from Hambrecht & Quist, which he'd co-founded in 1968. Industry heavyweights such as American Century and Fidelity are among WR Hambrecht's financial backers.
