Here’s where we’re headed, and how we’ll get there: We have a long-term vision that sets the Company on a clear path toward achieving our strategic objective – transforming our Material Handling Segment into a high-growth, customer-centric innovator of engineered plastic solutions while continuing to optimize and grow our Distribution Segment. It consists of three distinct horizons.
Each horizon outlines specific actions to drive profitable revenue growth while advancing a “One Myers” culture and mindset. As One Myers, we will offer solutions that incorporate all of our current molding capabilities: rotational molding, blow molding, injection molding and thermoforming. Having this full set of capabilities is a differentiator in the market.
In our first phase, Horizon One, we’re focused on strengthening the Company through organic growth initiatives, commercial and operational excellence, pursuing bolt-on acquisitions in plastics molding and driving a high-performing culture.
As part of Horizon One, we are on a journey to transform our culture. Our “One Myers” approach embraces a growth mindset and is building on a foundation of operational excellence. In today’s fast-moving environment, a best-in-class culture is the critical mainstay that will allow us to achieve our vision of having a positive impact on the daily lives of people all around the world.
Of course, a vision will always fall flat if you don’t have strong values to guide your way. As we focus on Horizon One, the values that serve, collectively, as our compass are:
Integrity: Our word is our bond; we do what we say we are going to do.
Optimism: We work with the assumption that people are fair, honest and have good intent.
Customer Focus: We strive to deliver the right product, at the right time, every time.
Can-do Spirit: We will always find a way…we have a can-do spirit. We will deliver. For our employees, our customers, our communities, our shareholders.
Description In 1933, Meyer and Louis Myers opened Myers Tire Supply in Akron, OH. In the early years, they lived by a humble commitment: “Everything for the Tire Dealer.” Almost a full century later, that “everything” has taken on a whole new meaning, and the “for” has evolved impressively. What started as a small storefront has become Myers Industries, the largest tire repair supply distributor in the United States, as well as an international plastics manufacturer of returnable packaging, storage, safety products and specialty molding.
Early on, the brothers grew the business modestly but strategically, opening an international warehouse in Canada, and domestic branches across the United States. In 1946 they expanded further, founding Patch Rubber Company and Akro-Mils; the latter company making plastic products, which foreshadowed the manufacturing empire that was to come. Throughout the 20th century, new material-handling products were introduced, and similar businesses were acquired.
The result is a diversified material-handling business with a renowned stable of brands, a vast tire distribution operation with a sterling reputation, and around 2,400 employees dedicated to driving the business forward. From storage bins to tire-changing equipment, from safety cabinets to under-vehicle supplies, and from portable fuel tanks to tire repair plugs, Myers Industries provides everyday solutions that offer modern convenience.
