    I worked at A-dec full-time

    Pros

    Great benefits
    Good products
    Private company

    Cons

Lack of setting clear exoectations. Lack of consistent and direct feedback with some of the leadership. Lack of executing strategy and vision. Some leaders are willing to coach others only care about making themselves look good.

    Advice to Management

Look at consistency in providing feedback and consistency in terminations.

    I worked at A-dec full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Majority of the employees take pride in their work and are respectful. Pending the supervisor, they are vested in your future and aid in professional growth.

    Cons

There is an aura of forced niceness and deceptive interactions. The expectation of complete political correctness leads to insincere interactions and doesn't allow for transparent discussions. There is an extensive web of family and close friends that work there (especially in managerial positions) which leads to evident favoritism and nepotism. In some cases the company advances employees who have worked there longer and those they are closer with as opposed to candidates that are better equipped for the position.

    Advice to Management

Allow for more self-expression and embrace diversity. When promoting from within, focus more on a persons qualifications and skill set instead of career duration.

I have been working at A-dec full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

People are very friendly and welcoming - this is Newberg nice!

Competitive pay and benefits, including 4 weeks PTO and immediate 401k match vesting. Generous annual company contribution to retirement plan.
Annual bonus plan and tuition reimbursement. A distinct company culture called "The A-dec Way" Plenty of internal promotional and development opportunities. Onsite fitness classes for a small monthly fee. Many departments have flexible work schedules. Free coffee/tea and iced tea. Values tenure and recognizes service anniversaries through monthly anniversary coffees. Annual offsite Christmas party at a downtown hotel and annual summer picnic. Pride in work shows in their high quality, in demand products. Really pretty campus - lots of gorgeous trees in the middle of wine country. Work load is reasonable - they expect hard work, but they don't expect 60 hour work weeks. Successful company with a history of profitability.

    Cons

The drive to Newberg can be a disadvantage if coming from Portland. You're mostly coming against traffic, but it's a long drive.
Distinct company culture may not appeal to those used to a more aggressive, stereotypical Silicon Valley type environment.
I've heard that change comes slowly at A-dec, but I have not personally experienced this.
Tends to be an early in (like 6-7am), early out workforce - this is a pro for early birds but could be tough for others.

    Advice to Management

I have none. This is a company that walks the talk of truly valuing employees.

Can be slow to move, but it is in the best interest of the organization.

    I worked at A-dec full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent retirement plan, funded in large part by company. Lots of long term employees who seem to care about what they do.

    Cons

E-suite leadership team doesn't live up to the supposed values of the organization. It's more about "not looking bad" than it is about doing the right thing. They tout the "family values" of the founders, but now that they are no longer involved in the day to day running of the business, things are going downhill. Most of executive team have never worked anyplace else (or it was a long time ago), so they have no concept of what it takes to run a competitive company today.

    Advice to Management

Quit perpetuating the "values" myth and just be honest. Respect employees who are willing to take risks and speak up when things aren't going well.

    Pros

Legacy products, dedicated, tenured employees, tight-knit culture, small company feel with a global reach, history of philanthropic endeavors supporting the local community

    Cons

speed of innovation is lacking on all fronts, needs an infusion of fresh ideas and a change-at-the-speed-of-business mindset to keep pace in the decade ahead

    Pros

Unlimited learning opportunities under the supervision of top tier professionals. Additionally, their emphasis on process improvements means your ideas matter.

    Cons

The work-life balance was not good in some departments. If I ever reapplied, this would be one of my questions in the interview.

    Advice to Management

Work-life balance and some flexibility of hours are important to young entrepreneurial minded professionals.

    Pros

They are a stable company and they have a good retirement plan. They are a domestic leader, but will have to work hard to maintain that position.

    Cons

They do some promoting within but you stand a better chance of getting promoted if you are a friend of management ('good ol boy').
I agree with another reviewer - they used to care for their people, knew they were what was important to a business. But they have become less people oriented now. They claim they care for their people but it seems more talk than anything now.

    Advice to Management

Be understanding of employee's situations in life...truly have a concern for people - don;' be so cold hearted...
